Hey guys!

In case you were wondering, today is my birthday. Someday it will be a national holiday.. :) Mom, thank you soooooooo much for the green olives for my birthday!! that is one tradition that I thought i would outgrow, but I still love it! my companions thought it was really weird that i got green olives for my birthday, but they are obvioulsy too unsophisticated to understand. Mom thank you so much for the journal and for the letter you wrote me. I read it a million times. I love you mom. Mucho. Jules, thanks for the shirts, milk duds, candy, notebook and chapstick! I am soo happy you were able to find my favorite chapstick! Tell olivia thank you for the letters that she sends me. And that the song from oliver and company "you and me forever we'll be, together you'll see....." was stuck in my head all day long after she wrote the letter with the lyrics in it. Tell rochelle thank you for her letter and good luck learning French!

Things are going great here. The food is still nasty. I just gave up on it and I eat pb and j sandwiches for most of my meals. The people in my district are super funny and we always have a lot of good laughs. Yesterday we were in the same classroom from 8:10am till 5:15 with an hour long break for lunch. I was going insane. But luckily i just hit stupid hour instead. Our teacher told us this joke about this guy who come running home crying from school cuz the kids called him a fat head, and the mom (making the same motion of like stirring a HUGE pot of stew or something) pats his head and says go lay down. It was super funny in spanish. Ask Chester about it, he probably knows the joke.

With dearelder.com, they print off all the letters like at 4:00 pm, so we get them when we get back from dinner at 6. The people in my district always tease me because I get the most letters. But I love getting letters. Especially the handwritten ones. I have a stack of them by now. They help me get through the day.

We got our flight itenary. We fly out of SLC to atlanta at 9:47 on feb 8th, then we have a two hour layover at 3:27 atlanta time where i think i get to call home. and then our plane leaves for peru at 5:10 and we get to peru at 11:55 pm the same day. So it will be a long day, starting at 6 am and ending at midnight, but it will be fun!

I love you guys. I am going to the temple today at 2. so that will be refreshing. my spanish is coming along. i love it here and Im learning a LOT. :)

Love you!

1st letter!!

Hey!
So it has only been a couple days here in the MTC, but you have no idea how excited I am to finally write home. there is sooo much to tell you! first of all, the food is DISGUSTING. There are usually four options for each meal, and I cannot stomach any of them. One time we had this meat, I thought it was chicken, it cut like salmon and smelled like turkey. I still have no idea what it was. For breakfast I eat an orange and drink a glass of chocolate milk, lunch i eat an apple and banana, and dinner I try to plug my nose and not look at my food as i try to eat an actual meal. We get about 50 minutes of gym time 5 days a week, but since I won't cut the bracelet off that Julie gave me, I can't play any of the sports like basketball, volleyball, or 4 square. So instead I just run a mile, do the weight machines, and then walk a mile. Its really nice. Our district is composed of me and my two companions, hermanas brown y morris. Hermana brown is going to cusco peru ( I always say cuscotopia just like off of the emperors new groove), and morris is in the same mission as me. They are both amazing girls and I really look forward to learning and growing with them. Then there are 6 elders who are going to Mexico, and they are also really great and funny. on thursday, we got into class (2 blocks of 3 hours in the same classroom with our district) and that was the last time we heard english. Everything inside the classroom is in spanish, unless you say como se dice _____ en espanol or que significa de_____. I am learning sooo much. Thursday we learned how to pray and testify in spanish, yesterday we taught our first investigator in spanish, and now we are going to teach him again tonight. its fun. Its amazing how much I am already learning. I sent you, mom, a letter on thursday, and Julie, I was not able to send your letter off until this morning because I did not get your dearelders until last night and did not have your mailing address.
I ran into Peter from Washougal yesterday, he has been here for like 11 weeks and leaves next week for chile. He looks really happy and will be a great missionary.
There is not a lot else going on. Each second of the day is planned for us, the showers are never warmer then freezing-we can't shave our legs yet because we have too many goose bumps. lol. We wake up each morning at 6:30 and go go go until 10:30 when we are too tired to do anything but fall asleep exhausted. But it is a good work, and i like it.

I got Julie's and Olivia's letters from Dearelder.com. It was great to have letters to read. If you go there, you can write a letter, and I will get it at dinner time. I love all you guys. And I miss you, but not too much :) My next p-day is next friday from like 8:15-11:15. I love you guys mucho. Dont miss me!

MTC mailbox number

Hi! Its me, Jolene.

The easiest way to write Tamazine's is through http://www.dearelder.com/. Her mailbox number at the MTC is 351. If you write her a letter there, she gets it that day at lunch. And its free :)
She hasn't written any emails yet, but when she does, I will be sure to add it here, and also forward it to every one's email that I have collected.

Until then, Tamazine, know we love you and are proud of you.

Hola!

Okay, so I leave tomorrow morning. So before I go, just know that if you are reading this, that means I love you enough to let you know I have a blog. Its true.

The best way to reach me will be just writing a simple letter, as my time on the computer is extremely limited and I will be spending the whole time reading the novels/emails that my mom will write me. :)

My sister, Jolene, will be updating my blog, tamazine.blogspot.com, weekly with the emails that I write home, so feel free to look at that blog.

If you want to be put on the list to get my emails forwarded to me, just leave a comment or message me with your email and i'll ask my sister to make sure that you can get on the list. Thanks guys!
